Josh is the
oldest Welch child. He’s entering his senior year at Ohio University, where he’s
double-majoring in computer science and piano performance. To save time, Josh
has strategically cut unnecessary activities like eating and sleeping. This
strategy has proven effective—in 2011, he won the university-wide concerto
competition, earning the opportunity to perform his concerto
with the university’s symphony orchestra. He’s also received multiple
scholarships and academic recognitions. After he completes his degrees, he
plans to continue studying computer science in graduate school.
In the (rare) moments when he’s not studying, Josh leads the OU
chapter of Ratio
Christi, participates in Campus Crusade, and plays sports.
Josh plays guitar, pennywhistle, and piano with the band and
sings tenor. In summer of 2010 and 2011, he has played worship music for Word
of Life’s Family
Campground in Schroon Lake, NY. Some of his favorite
musicians are Frederic Chopin, Chris Rice, and the Isaacs.
Favorite Verses:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a
living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service
of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that
which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Colossians 3:1-5
Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things
above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind of the
things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you
have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who
is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality,
impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts
to idolatry.
